SharePoint Saturday Istanbul 2018

And yes, we are back. After a successful SharePoint Saturday Istanbul, last year, we’ve decided to come back – and stronger as before. This year’s event will be held on October 6th at the Microsoft offices in Istanbul (as last year).

We’ve considered last year’s event as a proof of concept and did not do any call for speaker – unfortunately – but we’ve received so many positive feedback from attendees that we decided to expand the event with an English track.  So YES(!), the call for speaker and sponsor will be opened soon, don’t forget to follow the @SPSIstanbul official Twitter account for all announcements.  Some practical information:

  • Call for speaker will start: _march 10th 2018_
  • Call for speaker will close: _may 10th 2018_
  • Agenda publication: _June 1 th 2018_
  • Hotel recommendations, speaker’s dinner, presentations will be send out: _September 1 th 2018_

Besides of meeting your technology peers and a fun conference in Istanbul, here are other reasons to come and visit Turkey:

  • Istanbul, historically known as Constantinople, is the _most populous_ city in Turkey and the country’s economic, cultural, and historic center.
  • Istanbul is a _transcontinental city_ in Eurasia, straddling the Bosporus strait (which separates Europe and Asia) between the Sea of Marmara and the Black Sea.
  • The city is the administrative center of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (coterminous with Istanbul Province), both hosting a population of around _15 million residents_.
  • Istanbul is _one of the world’s most populous_ cities and ranks as the world’s _7th-largest_ city proper and the largest European city. Istanbul is viewed as a bridge between East and West.
  • Approximately _12.56 million foreign visitors_ arrived in Istanbul in 2015, five years after it was named a European Capital of Culture, making the city the world’s fifth most popular tourist destination.
  • The city’s biggest attraction is its historic center, partially listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and its cultural and entertainment hub can be found across the city’s _natural harbor, the Golden Horn, in the Beyoğlu district_. Considered a global city, Istanbul has one of the fastest-growing metropolitan economies in the world.

With all that said, if you come to Istanbul – I will be your personal tourist guide the day before or after the event and we’ll visit the main touristic areas of Istanbul. How cool isn’t? Don’t miss this unique chance to speak, visit and enjoy Istanbul!
